Sweet Southern Comfort is a bright and airy collection that embodies the feeling of summertime in the South. This five-piece collection was created as my final project for my draping class where the requirements were as follows.
"Final Project Design Development: You will need to document your design process in your journal. Include a thorough collection of images, notes, fabrics, costs, and sketches to clearly depict your research and ideas for the final project.
Process:
Research an overriding concept, fashion trends, and market segments, and find inspirational sources.
Develop a theme based on your inspiration and choose a target market you are designing for.
Create a line of clothing (that has a cohesive theme, draped elements, and a variety of garment items) based on your theme and intended target market, which should be correlated/coordinated, yet interesting individually. The design features should demonstrate the rigor, quality, and innovativeness of an emerging designer.
Assessment: The sketchbook assignments will be assessed for the quality and completeness of the following.
Exploration of a concept that is thorough, understandable, and compiles ideas in a new way.
Designs are a departure from the concept that adds something new to design yet remains sellable to the stated market.
Designs appear coordinated by repeating selected elements and principles of design.
Execution of sketches is understandable to the viewer with seam lines, details, fabric movement, and drape indicated.
The concept, market and store type, fabrics, price, and other information to clarify the line are appropriately documented."
