In Visual Retailing, I created a 3-D digital storefront using MockShop software. In addition to the store creation, consumer research was conducted to thoroughly understand the desired target market.
Store description and reasoning:
I wanted my store to make my customers instantly feel at home by filling it with elements that match my ideal customer's style. I did this by mixing hard, edgy elements with soft feminine touches that give a western/southern boho feeling. The front wall of the store is all windows to help give the store a lot of natural light. The white walls and light wood floors help reflect the light as well. I used soft pops of pink in the ceiling and furniture to add texture and interest to the retail space as well. The shiplap wall behind the cash wrap offers an interesting texture too. The plants by the door are an inviting feature that helps capture people's attention as they walk past the store and make them stop to think about looking around. The couch in the store is another inviting feature that welcomes guests who may not be interested in shopping but want to stay with their friends/family members that they came in with. As for the layout of the store, I went for a more open option that allows the customer to see everything the shop has to offer at once. The merchandise available can fit a variety of lifestyles and needs. There is a wide selection of athletic clothes and accessories, as well as clothing options that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. As for pricing, there is also a wide range. While my target market consists mostly of women in their 20s my secondary market consists of high school teenagers. With that in mind, I needed to offer a variety of high-quality items that are a little more on the pricey side while also offering more moderately priced options and lower-quality merchandise. Items in the store range anywhere from $10 up to $60 depending upon quality and materials.
